| What
you need to upload you files: |
Uploading files to the LynNet FTP server requires that you have an
FTP Client installed on your machine.
The easiest to use is WS-FTP
LE by IP Switch. This client is supported by LynNet. We will not be
able to walk you through an upload with any other FTP software.
|
| Logging
into LynNet's FTP server: |
The address of LynNet's FTP Server is FTP.LYNNET.COM
-
Your User Name and Password are the same you use to Dial Up and
check your mail.
|
| Once
you are connected: |
Once you are logged into the FTP Server you will see a folder called
"public_html". You must change
into this directory before you upload your files. Only files in this
folder will be accessible to the World Wide Web.
|
| What
to upload: |
If you are uploading a web page or web site you must have a page that
is called "Default.htm". This is
the page that will load first. If this file is not in the "public_html"
folder no pages will load. All other files can be named whatever
you like as long as they have an "htm"
or "html" file extension. This
does not include image files. Image files should have ".jpg"
or ".gif" file extensions.
|
|
How to access your page once it is uploaded:
|
Your Web Page address will be:
http://www.lynnet.com/ followed by (~your_username).
Which will look like -
|
|
http://www.lynnet.com/~your_username/
|
|
Linking files to E-Bay:
|
Follow the steps described above to upload your picture files. You do
not need a "Default.htm" if you
are only going to link picture files to an outside site such as E-Bay.
Remember to keep the file names simple so they will be easier to get to.
"car1.jpg" is going to be easier
to link to than "1994 black ford mustang.jpg".
Once you have the files uploaded to the "public_html" folder
you can view them in your web browser by going to this address:
|
|
http://www.lynnet.com/~username/picture_name.jpg
|
|
Be sure to use your username and the
name of your picture in the above address.
